FOLKESTONOMY consists of a mobile mapping station and an evolving online map. The mobile mapping station travels alongside the route of the twenty-three Triennial commissions, inviting passers-by and visitors to trace and map their own links, encounters and interests with the wider field of the Triennial and the town of Folkestone. This information feeds into a new and growing map of Folkestone which is being developed during the second phase of the exhibition. The map indexes and locates the individual stories submitted by the participant. The aim is to sketch and show an image of an existing and extending cultural space that is important, but currently less visible than others.
Throughout the second part of the Folkestone Triennial we will work on a number of visualisations of the collected stories. Please come and visit this site again over the coming weeks to see the updates published online.
